According to him, the first pipeline, which is over 800 km long, will link the Vankor oil and gas field and the township of Dikson on the Kara Sea.
This is the best variant of the Vankor oil transportation, which allows to connect other perspective oil fields in the north of the Krasnoyarsk territory to this system, the governor stressed.
A large accumulator terminal will be built near Dikson. Ice-class tankers will deliver oil from this terminal to processing plants in Russia and abroad via the Northern Sea Route. However, the Russian government should approve this project, Mr. Khloponin noted.
He expressed hope that it would happen soon because the Rosneft company is boosting the development of oil reserves in Vankor (the Turukhansk district of the Krasnodar territory).
The prospected oil reserves in Vankor total 125 million tons. Rosneft is to start industrial production of this oil in 2008. The construction of the new pipeline will be completed by this time.
