MOSCOW, June 29 (RIA Novosti) - Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic discussed the transition to long-term contracts on Russian gas supplies to Serbia, Gazprom's press release reads.

The sides also considered Gazprom's participation in the investment projects of Serbia's gas industry and bilateral cooperation in gas sphere.

According to Mladjan Dinkic, the Serbian government is working out a mechanism to pay off gas debts to Russia.

Gazprom has been supplying gas to former Yugoslavia since 2001 in compliance with the contract with the Serbian Oil Industry state-owned company. In 2003 1.873 billion cubic meters of Russian gas were supplied to Serbia. For 2004 the figure is 2-2.1 billion cubic meters.

The contract implies gas supplies to Serbia until the end of 2004. Short-term contracts have been made because of the unsettled debt.
