RUSSIAN-UKRAINIAN COOPERATION COMMISSION HOLDS 10TH SESSION IN MOSCOW

KIEV/MOSCOW, July 2 (RIA Novosti) - On Friday Moscow will host the 10th session of the Russian-Ukrainian mixed cooperation commission under the chairmanship of Russian and Ukrainian Prime Ministers Mikhail Fradkov and Viktor Yanukovich.

Moreover, the two premiers will hold a bilateral meeting, the Ukrainian embassy in Moscow said. The Russian and Ukrainian delegations are to consider the condition and prospects for the development of cooperation in trade and economic, fuel and energy, military-technical, aviation and space, transport and humanitarian spheres.

The sides will also discuss the Russian-Ukrainian talks on border issues, the Russian Black Sea fleet and its stay in Ukraine. Following the talks, they will sign a number of bilateral documents.

The previous session of the Russian-Ukrainian mixed cooperation commission was held in the Crimea on July 18, 2003. The delegations focused on the formation of an international gas consortium, the Common Economic Space of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine and prospects of the Russian-Ukrainian An-70 military aircraft project.

According to the Ukrainian State Statistics Committee, in January-April 2004 the Russian-Ukrainian trade turnover grew by 35.8% against the same period of 2003 and totaled $5.079 billion. Last year the mutual trade turnover totaled $12.957 billion and grew by 36.29% against 2002. In 2003 Russia accounted for 73.7% of Ukraine's trade turnover with the CIS countries and 28.09% of its trade turnover with other countries. These rates slightly fell in January-April 2004.
