Russian-ASEAN anti-terrorist interaction implies the development of cooperation between law enforcement bodies and research centers, promotion of links with the Interpol, Europol, ASEAN Chiefs of National Police, the CIS Anti-terrorist Center in Bishkek, and the regional anti-terrorist structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (Tashkent).
Moreover, the sides will exchange intelligence data and information on terrorist financing, and counter-terrorist measures and will work out more efficient anti-terrorist policy. The declaration also implies consolidation of links between law enforcement bodies, training assistance and consultations between officials and operatives.
Russia and the ASEAN agreed on counter-terrorism in the transport sphere, joint border and migration control, the fight against terrorist financing, etc.
Special structures to coordinate the activities of law enforcement and anti-terrorist bodies will be formed in Russia and ASEAN member-states. They will control the implementation of the declaration.
According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, this document will have important practical consequences in the anti-terrorist sphere.
