RUSSIA IS UZBEKISTAN'S PRIORITY PARTNER, KARIMOV SAYS

Moscow, July 3 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov held a routine meeting with Uzbekistan's President Islam Karimov on Saturday, Russian premier's press secretary Alexander Zharov told journalists.

"Our countries boast a rich experience of economic cooperation," Mikhail Fradkov said opening the meeting. "Your regular contacts with President Vladimir Putin boost evident and productive interaction between Russia and Uzbekistan," the Russian premier said.

On his part, Islam Karimov noted that Russia "has always been and will be Uzbekistan's priority partner and ally". A month ago our countries signed a strategic partnership agreement, he stressed.

According to the press secretary, the sides discussed a wide range of bilateral trade and economic and humanitarian issues.
