The head of the Russian Orthodox Church discussed issues pertaining to preparations for the forum at his meeting in Moscow with Nurtai Abykayev, speaker of the Kazakh parliament's Senate, a spokesperson for the Kazakh Embassy in the Russian Federation told RIA Novosti.
"Alexis II was thoroughly briefed on the results of the first summit of the leaders of world and traditional religions which he had not been able to attend for health reasons. The two parties stated that the forum's primary mission is to promote peace and harmony in the world and encourage amiable understanding between people as well as social cooperation between followers of different religions and creeds," the spokesperson said.
In the course of the meeting, the two parties also discussed diverse issues pertaining to spiritual uplift of population, establishment of mutual tolerance and enhancement of inter-confessional relations.
