MOSCOW, July 5 (RIA Novosti) - There are 2 million Protestants in Russia today and they should be involved in the inter-religious dialogue, chairman of the Evangelists Union, bishop Sergei Ryakhovsky said at a RIA Novosti roundtable on inter-confessional relations on Monday.

He agreed with the high assessment of inter-religious cooperation in Russia, given by the roundtable participants.

"However, some other confessions, whose activities reflect Russia's spiritual life, should be involved in this dialogue as well," he noted.

He spoke about the Russian Inter-religious Council, which includes spiritual leaders of the only four confessions (Orthodoxy, Islam, Judaism and Buddhism), which were acknowledged traditional by the Russian legislation.

"Protestants constitute a part of Russian society. These people follow the long-standing traditions of Protestantism. I cannot say that this is a new confession because I am a Protestant in the 4th generation," Sergei Ryakhovsky said.
