MOSCOW MAYOR ADVANCES RELATIONS BETWEEN RUSSIAN CAPITAL AND AZERBAIJAN

MOSCOW, July 7 (RIA Novosti) - Azerbaijan will supply calcium chloride to be used in the production of deicers and nuts for Moscow confectioneries.

Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov visited Azerbaijan on July 4-5. Mr. Luzhkov said in the Facing the City television program that the visit was helpful. "We suggested that Azerbaijan supply aluminum sulfide to be used in water purification, calcium chloride for deicers, polyesters, synthetic rubber and other materials to Moscow," said Mr. Luzhkov.

Besides, they reached an agreement on the deliveries of fruit and nuts, hazelnuts and almonds, for confectioneries. Mr. Luzhkov and Azerbaijani officials also agreed to step up cooperation in the education, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Mr. Luzhkov said the Moscow authorities opened a "Moscow auditorium" in the Baku Slavic University and outfitted it with modern equipment. Besides, the Moscow government supplies Russian textbooks to Baku and invites Azeri children to spend summer holidays in children's camps in Russia and take the opportunity for studying Russian.

The Moscow mayor noted the Azerbaijani authorities' "kind and wise approach to contacts and friendship with Russia."
