MOSCOW, July 7 (RIA Novosti) - Open joint stock company Stroitransgaz in a consortium with Essar Construction Ltd., an Indian company, signed a contract with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) to construct the 688 kilometer Chennai-Trichy-Madurai pipeline in southern India, a press release from Stroitransgaz reported.
"The Chennai-Trichy-Madurai pipeline will transport crude oil to an IOCL refinery in Chennai, a city in the Trichy and Madurai districts (Tamil Nadu state)," the statement said.
The pipeline's diameter will vary: 258 kilometers of pipeline will be 14 inches in diameter; 158 kilometers will have a diameter of 12.75 inches; and 272 kilometers will have a 10.75 inch diameter.
The contract specified that the pipeline project would be constructed in 11 months.
According to the statement, Stroitransgaz, as a member of the consortium, will provide Essar with technical assistance and specialized construction equipment.
