EDINBURGH (UK), July 7 (RIA Novosti) - Russian-Georgian relations are changing for the better, Georgian parliamentary speaker Nino Burdzhanadze told RIA Novosti.

According to her, she had "a very constructive and interesting conversation" with Russian State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov during the 13th session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Edinburgh". "We agreed to launch a new stage of cooperation between the Russian State Duma and Georgian parliament," she said.

"I hope Moscow understands that it will benefit by having Georgia as a united, integral and friendly neighbor, not weak, split and angry with Russia," she stressed.

Commenting on Russia's role in the solution of Georgian inter-ethnic conflicts, Nino Burdzhanadze pointed out Russia's important intermediary role in the Abkhaz and Ossetian settlements. "We don't ask anything new," she added. [Abkhazia and South Ossetia are self-proclaimed republics in Georgia].

"Adzharia [an autonomy in Georgia] has no problems. Russia takes a precise and proper position. I am glad that our leaders have friendly and confident relations," she noted.

Speaking about the easing and abolition of Russian-Georgian visa regulations, Nino Burdzhanadze said that this problem was almost solved.
