The operation was held by the border-guard agencies of Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan from June 10 to 21. The Kazakh border-guard service, attracting the involved ministries and departments, prepared and conducted the operation.
"The operation has helped reach joint counteraction to attempts by transboundary organized crime to increase the scope of illegal crossing the borders and territories of the Central Asian CIS members by weapons, ammunition, means of subversion, drugs and illegal migrants from Afghanistan", the communique reads.
All-round interaction has been acted out between the border-guard agencies with the attraction of the power structures, customs and other state bodies in the conduct of joint border-protection actions.
"In all, 841 trespassers of the border and 94 illegal migrants have been detained. In addition, 203 kilograms of drugs, three aviation bombs, two Kalashnikov automatic weapons, two rifles, two 16-millimetre sporting guns, over 1,000 pieces of ammunition of different calibre for small arms and extremist publications have been seized", the communique notes.
