TBILISI, July 18 (RIA Novosti's Marina Kvaratskhelia) - South Ossetia (unrecognized republic, former autonomy in Georgia's composition) is sending humanitarian aid to those injured as a result of the natural disaster in the mountainous Georgian region of Svanetia.

"Talks are underway with the Georgian official representatives on the delivery of this humanitarian aid," Irina Gagloyeva, the head of the South Ossetian information and press committee, told journalists on Sunday.

In her words, two cars with humanitarian aid carry flour, tents and prime necessities.

"We tested on ourselves what a natural disaster is and believe that at hard moments people must help one another," Ms. Gagloyeva said.

As a result of tremendous precipitation that caused mudflows, most residents of Svanetia's villages were left roofless. One person died. Damage inflicted is assessed at $2.5 million.
