MOSCOW, July 20 (RIA Novosti) -- Oleg Romantsev may become new coach of the German national football team, Gazeta writes. The ex-coach of the Russian team and Spartak Moscow is on an extended list of candidates for the post. The prospect has become more real after Otto Rehhagel refused to take up the reigns by extending his contract with the Football Federation of Greece, the Euro 2004 champions.

At present, Romantsev is an ordinary Russian job seeker. The German team has been looking for a new coach since the resignation of Rudi Voeller.
