RUSSIAN INTERIOR MINISTER'S VISIT TO GROZNY FOCUSES ON SECURITY PROBLEMS IN CHECHNYA

GROZNY, July 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliev will visit Grozny on Wednesday, where he will hold several meetings with Chechnya's leadership.

A source in the republican government told RIA Novosti that scheduled were the minister's meetings with Chechnya's acting president Sergei Abramov, first vice-premier Ramzan Kadyrov, and Social Council's chairman Alu Alkhanov.

Discussed during the meetings will be the issues of ensuring security during the upcoming presidential elections in the republic to be held on August 29. Besides, the issue of establishing a special operations regiment under Chechnya's Interior Ministry will be discussed, said the agency's source.

According to the source, a meeting with the leadership of the Chechen law enforcement bodies presided over by Mr. Nurgaliev will be held in Khankala at the joint forces' base. The meeting will touch upon the issues of the counter-terrorism operation progress.
