"The talks are intended to 'synchronize' our countries' approaches to the main problems of modern times," Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"Moscow and Managua are both interested in developing effective cooperation to counter new threats and challenges, including international terrorism, illegal drugs trafficking, arms smuggling, transnational organized crime, and corruption," the Russian Foreign Ministry has emphasized.
The foreign ministers will share opinions on a wide range of world political issues and bilateral trade and economic ties.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, "The Moscow meeting will give a new impetus to cooperation with Nicaragua and define prospects for its development for coming years."
After the talks Lavrov and Caldera will make a joint statement, exchange documents of ratification of the Treaty on the Fundamentals of Bilateral Relations, and sign an agreement on cooperation between the two countries' diplomatic academies.
