CONFERENCE ON RUSSIA'S ACCESSION TO WTO OPENS IN SARATOV

SARATOV, July 28 (RIA Novosti) - A conference "Accession of Russia to World Trade Organization (WTO) and Business Interests" opens today in Saratov (on the Volga River).

The regional press and information committee reported that director of the trade negotiations department of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry Maxim Medvedev, director of the information bureau on Russia's accession to the WTO Alexei Portansky, head of the government delegation at the negotiations on Russia joining the WTO, deputy director of the trade negotiations department of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry Andrei Kushnirenko, general director of the center of trade policy and law Anatoly Martynov will speak at the conference.

The participants are also going to discuss the basic documents which determine the terms of Russia's accession to the WTO - the protocol of accession, Russia's obligations relating to the access of goods and services to the market and in the agricultural sphere.

The discussion will also spotlight the WTO fundamental requirements to the federal and regional legislation.

The draft federal laws, which fulfill these requirements, will be presented - the new Customs Code, the draft laws "On Currency Regulation and Control", "On Standardization and Certification", "On Anti-Dumping and Compensation Measures", "On Special Protection Measures," "On State Assistance", and "On State Regulation of Foreign Trade."
