"The field commander has been eliminated and it's confirmed by the report we've received today," Mr. Abramov disclosed to a RIA Novosti correspondent.
As a result of a special operation in Argun a group of six terrorists, who were the participants of the local "jamaat" and headed by Abuzan Abulkarimov, also known as Gerat, was eliminated by federal forces, representative of the Regional Headquarters on the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus Ilya Shabalkin reported earlier to RIA Novosti.
Chairman of the Public Council for control over Chechnya's economic and social recovery in Chechnya Alu Alkhanov said that the operation concerning the elimination of the detected terrorist group lasted for several days.
"Five terrorists were killed and two arrested," Mr. Alkhanov said.
According to him, the recent operation can be evaluated as a routine work of the law-enforcement bodies on the elimination of the existing terrorist units in Chechnya.
"The operation was well-timed. The fact that terrorist units exist in Chechnya cannot be denied and we take all efforts to detect them. This recent operation is certainly not the last one," Mr. Alkhanov said.
The Acting Chechen President stated that there were no complaints on behalf of the Central Election Commission, interior affairs bodies and executive bodies concerning the Presidential campaign in Chechnya.
According to Mr. Abramov, the preparatory stage for the elections has been successfully concluded and the presidential campaign is underway.
"The presidential candidates have the opportunity to address the mass media. I believe that at the day of the presidential elections Chechen people will cast their votes for their own President," he noted.
The early Chechen Presidential elections are scheduled for August 29 following the assassination of Akhmad Kadyrov as a result of the terrorist act on May 9, 2004. Seven candidates are running for presidency in Chechnya.
