The document was signed by UES CEO Anatoly Chubais and acting Chechen President Sergei Abramov after a meeting between Mr. Abramov, Mr. Chubais and Alu Alkhanov, chairman of the public council for controlling the restoration of the economy and the social sphere in Chechnya.
At the meeting, the progress of restoring the industrial and energy sector of Chechnya was discussed.
The Chechen government and UES plan to work jointly on restructuring and developing Chechnya's electricity and heat generating capacities.
"The sides have also agreed on joint actions to bringing tariffs on electricity and heat to an economically grounded level," the documents said.
The agreement noted that in the future, UES would develop and coordinate with the Chechen government, the Concept of the Development of the Power Industry of Chechnya until 2020. The concept will provide for the restoration and development of the republic's generating capacities using renewable energy sources.
Mr. Abramov told reporters on Friday in Moscow, "in the near future we will draft a working document on mutual obligations of Chechnya, as a purchaser, and UES, as a supplier."
