According to the official spokesman of the Flight Control Center, Valery Lyndin, "on the Zvezda module, the crew will have to install laser reflectors and a new radio antenna for docking with the Jules Verne, a new European cargo spaceship. They will also replace the cable of the malfunctioning TV camera that they will install during their next spacewalk."
Mr. Lyndin said that the crew would also have to replace elements of a scientific apparatus outside the station. "Padalka and Fink will remove the Platan device," he said, "which was designed to study the elementary composition and spectrum of cosmic rays in order to determine methods of protecting the crew from radiation and establishing the rolerance of space mechanisms."
According to him, the crew will also change one of the removable cassettes with samples of special coating that is planned to be used to create new space equipment.
Within the framework of the Kromka (Edge) experiment, the crew will remove panels with samples that are used in studies of the influence of pollutants from the ISS reactor engines on the outer surface of the station.
"All this work will be conducted on the body of the Russian module Zvezda," he said. "As in the previous spacewalk, the crew will be in the already tried and tested Russian full-pressure Orlan-M suits which have proved to be reliable on many occasions."
