The document notes that articles have lately appeared in foreign mass media, which, believes the Moldovan Defense Ministry, contain "explicit disinformation on the units of the Moldovan army becoming more active in the immediate vicinity of the Security Zone."
"The Moldovan Defense Ministry declares with all responsibility that this does not correspond to reality and may be easily refuted by both military observers represented in the Joint Military Command of the peacekeeping forces and OSCE observers," reads the statement.
"With the difficult situation about the operation of Moldovan schools in Transdniestria [the Transdniestrian authorities announced the closing of six schools with the teaching in the Moldovan language with the use of Latinic letters, demanding their re-registration as foreign [Romanian] schools; in reply, Chisinau imposed from August 1 economic sanctions against the rebellious region and declared the suspension of its participation in the negotiating process], another thing is clearly seen - a military hysteria in the region. The Tiraspol administration is trying in every possible way to create in the region an atmosphere of nervousness and confrontation. These processes are artificial and have been started to intimidate the population of the eastern regions of Moldova, and have nothing to do with the actions of official Chisinau," reads the document.
A statement of the Moldovan Interior Ministry was received by RIA Novosti on Wednesday.
"Despite any provocative activities on the part of power services of Tiraspol, despite any active events that might be prepared in Transdniestria, all units of the Moldovan Interior Ministry were strictly warned about the necessity to avoid the use of any retaliatory measures," says the document.
