The Russian Information Agency Novosti begins Hotline coverage for Saturday, August 7, 2004.

MOSCOW

* The Federation Council, parliament's upper house, is hosting a regular interim commission session to analyse North Caucasian developments. Ministerial and other federal offices' spokesmen will attend. The agenda will concern Chechen economic and social rehabilitation. Alu Alkhanov, in charge of Chechnya's public council for economic rehabilitation monitoring, and republican presidential hopeful, has been invited.

* Mikhail Zurabov, federal Minister of Health and Social Politics, will address an on-line news conference on the ministerial premises. The conference covers legislative reforms in Russian social welfare politics-in particular, upcoming monetary grants.

* A 9th Russia international running race is taking start, on 15 km distance. Timed to it is a national championship and a national junior contest.

* A 2nd all-Russia bell-ringing festival is opening to last into Monday, August 9.

OMSK

* The city is hosting a 15th Siberian international marathon race.
