Rakhmonov and Yudin discussed ways to develop military and military technological cooperation between their countries, including joint exercises and personnel training. The Tajik President said he was satisfied with the present level of interaction, but that he would like to see it expanded further.
Yudin, only recently appointed to his current position, told reporters after the meeting that he was certain Russo-Tajik cooperation would keep being consolidated. "I am happy I will be representing Russia in Tajikistan and that the [two] nations are in a profound friendship, which will continue strengthening," the colonel said.
Speaking of the Russian military base in Tajikistan, Yudin said the issue had not been raised at today's meeting with Rakhmonov as it was outside his area of responsibility.
