"It would be expedient to hold the constituent session in mid-October to give final shape to the Russian-Turkish Business Council," Mr. Primakov told the organizing committee of the council.
He said that by then, all the legal, financial and organizational affairs would be settled.
Mr. Primakov said that he hoped for practical help from Russian companies willing to be members of the council, as well as support from the Turkish Businessmen Union in Russia and other international organizations.
On Tuesday, Alexander Lebedev was elected the work coordinator for establishing the council. Earlier, he was the Russian ambassador to Turkey.
Mr. Primakov said that setting up the council now was timely because "a stage of additional privatization" has begun in Russia and Turkey. In his opinion, this will pave the ground for investments in the two economies.
Also, the Russian-Turkish Business Council will be a full-fledged partner for the Turkish-Russian (formerly Turkish-Soviet) Business Council created in 1988.
"It will be an additional mechanism which is not going to be yet another officialdom," he said. "It is designed to facilitate business contacts inside the business community and promote original ideas."
