Unified Energy Systems of Russia, whose subsidiary INTER RAO UES is one of the participants in the tender, has confirmed this information.
Apart from UES, the Czech Republic's CEZ, Italy's Enel and Austria's Verbund are competing for the tender. The deadline to enter the tender was July 28.
The commission will meet once more to name the winner. However, the date of the meeting has not been announced. Information about the applications is also secret.
According to the local newspapers, however, Enel offered 40 billion korunas ($1.2 billion) for Slovenske Elektrarne, UES and CEZ, according to the same source, offered 31 billion korunas and 19 billion korunas respectively. The application from the Verbund will not be discussed because the company refused to buy assets in the nuclear power industry.
Slovenske Elektrarne is fully controlled by the state and is the main producer of electricity in Slovakia (its share on the market stands at 85%). The company has nuclear, thermal and hydroelectric stations, whose total capacity amounts to 7,000 megawatts.
