MOSCOW

* Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov will arrive in Russia. He is to meet with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

* The Russian Interior Ministry will host a briefing entitled "Anti-extremist work of the Interior Ministry's departments." Those attending will be heads of the Main Anti-organized Crime Department and the Main Criminal Investigation Department of the Interior Ministry.

* The Moscow government will hold a session on the results of the work of the Moscow architecture, building, development and reconstruction committee for the first half of 2004 and on the implementation of the 2004 investment program.

* The Russian Information Agency Novosti will host:

- a press conference on the 8th international bike show, which will be held in Moscow from August 26 to 29. Leaders of the Night Wolves club, Russian and foreign bikers will participate in it. (12.00)

- a press conference on the shooting of a new documentary about Moscow by the Tsar film company. The film is entitled "Real Moscow or The Adventures of an American in Russia." Those participating will be Hollywood actor Jed Allan starring in the new film, producer and director Alexander Izotov and actor Alexander Nevsky.

* Moscow will host a press conference on the upcoming Russian culture festival in Cannes.

* Film star Malcolm McDowell will give a press conference on the shooting of the feature film Mirror Wars: SU XX.

CHELYABINSK

* Russian Education Minister Andrei Fursenko, currently in Chelyabinsk, and governor of the Chelyabinsk region Pyotr Sumin will go to Zlatoust to attend a session of the Southern Urals' education workers. Moreover, the minister will visit local educational establishments.

SARATOV

* The 8th specialized exposition Oil-Gas-Chemistry-2004 will open in Saratov. Its participants will present the whole range of equipment and technologies for the oil, gas and chemical industries.

KALININGRAD

* The official opening ceremony of the Baltic Seasons first art festival will take place. It is timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the Kaliningrad region and 750th anniversary of Kaliningrad's foundation.

ST. PETERSBURG

* The exposition "Emperor Paul I" dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the birth of one of the most mysterious Russian emperors will open in the Manege central exposition hall. Most showpieces will be exhibited for the first time. Among them are archive materials and personal effects of the emperor and his spouse.

ATHENS

* Eleven sets of awards will be drawn at the Olympic competitions in artistic gymnastics, judo, swimming, shooting and fencing.
