After the festival's flag is raised, world famous Russian director Yury Temirkanov and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society symphony orchestra will perform Russian classical music by Mikhail Glinka (1804-1857), Modest Musorgsky (1839-1881) and Tchaikovsky (1840-1893).
"The festival will be the central cultural event of the anniversary celebrations," a spokesman for the organizing committee said. "This will be an all-Russian marathon in the westernmost part of the country."
The residents of Kaliningrad and the Kaliningrad region, as well as residents from neighboring European countries will have a chance to enjoy Russian culture (plays, classical music, ballets and films).
The organizers want "to build cultural bridges between the European countries and Russia."
The festival will close on November 6.
