The committee has issued the Category A certificate allowing service in difficult weather conditions and above large urban centers, says the Kamov Co. communique, received by RIA Novosti on Thursday.
The Ka-226 is of modular design, enabling different usage - rescue, ambulance, patrol, fire-fighting and training. The helicopter has a set of updated on-board equipment, ensuring flight with one of the two engines failing.
The Ka-226 passenger cabin seats seven to eight people. On the external store it carries up to 1,300 kilograms of cargo.
The Ka-226 features the advantage of a low fuel consumption - 140 liters of kerosene/hour. At full tankage the helicopter covers 600 kilometers without landing.
Another distinguishing feature is low noise. It is important for operation above large cities.
