MOSCOW, August 20 (RIA Novosti) - In 2005 Russia is to increase expenses on national defense and security by 27.6% (as compared to 2004) up to 528.8 billion rubles ($1=29.2 rubles). This is fixed in the 2005 draft budget.
In compliance with the draft, expenses on the Armed Forces will total 383 billion rubles, on nuclear weapons - 8.6 billion rubles, on the implementation of international obligations in the military-technical sphere - 6.231 billion rubles, and on applied research work in the defense sphere - 81.176 billion rubles.
Moreover, 1.895 billion rubles will be allocated on mobilization readiness, 3.5 billion rubles on economic mobilization readiness and 61.1 million rubles on collective security and peacekeeping activities.
Russia's expenses on national security and legislative work in 2005 will grow by 26% and total 398,4 billion rubles.
