ROSCOSMOS ANNOUNCES LAUNCH SCHEDULE

MOSCOW, August 23 (RIA Novosti) - The Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) has approved a revised launch schedule for the next three months.

Official spokesman for the agency Vyacheslav Davidenko told RIA Novosti on Monday that from September to November 2004, 10 carrier rockets and 17 space vehicles are scheduled to be launched. "Roscosmos and the Russian Space Forces will carry out the necessary calculations and launch carriers Soyuz, Proton, RS-20 [classic launching], Cosmos and Tsiklon-3 carrier rockets from Baikonur [Russian space center in Kazakhstan] and Plisetsk [space center in northern Russia]," he said.

According to Mr. Davidenko, on October 9, the Soyuz FG rocket carrying a Soyuz TMA-5 spaceship will be launched to replace the crew at the International Space Station. A Soyuz and a Progress-M cargo spaceship are scheduled to be launched from Baikonur on November 24 to bring cargo to the space station.

He said that in September an AMS-15 satellite is scheduled to be launched from Baikonur and an AMS-12 will be launched in November. The launch of an AM1 has been planned for October 28. At the end of November, a RS-20 (Dnieper carrier rocket) is scheduled to place six light satellites into orbit.

The following launches have are scheduled from Plisetsk: Soyuz-2 and Tsiklon-3. At the end of November a Tsiklon-3 will bring a SICh-1M spaceship into orbit.

On October 29, a modernized Soyuz-2 is scheduled to be launched from Plisetsk. This will be the beginning of test flights of a new medium-class rocket that will be launched from Plisetsk, and later Baikonur and Kourou (French Guiana).

The dates of the launches will be specified in accordance with the readiness of the technical and launching facilities, the rockets and the space vehicles, pointed out Mr. Davidenko.
