* The Russian Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography will host a press conference on the Russian Cinema Day (August 27) and the 2nd Moscow Premiere film festival.
* The Russian Information Agency Novosti will host a press conference with Musa Umarov, representative of the Chechen State Council in the Federation Council (upper house of Russian parliament), on the pre-election situation in Chechnya and forecast of the republic's further development.

* The big antisubmarine ship Marshal Shaposhnikov, major landing ship BDK-11 and a guided missile boat of the Russian Pacific Fleet will head on a friendly visit to port Kure, Japan. The warships will fly the flag of Maritime flotilla commander, Rear Admiral Sergei Avramenko.
BISHKEK
* Head of the Russian Federal Drug Control Service Viktor Cherkesov, currently in Kyrgyzstan, and head of the Kyrgyz Drug Control Agency Kurmanbek Kubatbekov will sign an agreement on cooperation against illegal drug trafficking. Moreover, Mr. Cherkesov is to meet Kyrgyzstan's President Askar Akayev.
UN
* The UN Security Council is to hold a session on Afghanistan. The session is initiated by the Russian Federation presiding at the Security Council in August.
VATICAN
* The two-day divine services in connection with the handing of the copy of the wonderworking Icon of Our Lady of Kazan to the Russian Orthodox Church will start in the Vatican. A delegation led by Cardinal Walter Casper will bring the icon to Moscow on August 27.
