The nuclear problem of North Korea and the issue related to its ballistic missiles are a direct threat for peace and stability in north-east Asia where Mongolia and Japan are situated and a serious challenge to international efforts of preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction throughout the world," the minister believes.
Japan attaches great importance to negotiations with Mongolian leadership in solving the North Korean nuclear problem, since it has diplomatic relations with the DPRK and can inform its government of the Japanese stand.
The fundamental position of our country is to solve the nuclear problem peacefully, by way of the agreement to be worked out by six countries. In compliance with this agreement North Korea should close completely its nuclear projects, and this should be checked internationally, declared Kawaguchi.
