AMUR BAY CLOSED FOR EMERGENCIES MINISTRY EXERCISES

VLADIVOSTOK, August 26 (RIA Novosti's Anatoly Ilyukhov) - During the maritime exercises of the regional structures of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in Vladivostok on August 26, Amur Bay and the airspace above it will be closed, the Maritime Territory administration's press center told RIA Novosti.

The Pacific Fleet will control the bay. The ministry's forces will practice emergency responses. The exercise will be carried out in two stages. The goal of the first stage is to check the readiness of the rescue workers and the State Marine Light Craft Inspectorate in the Maritime Territory (their ability to respond to problems that arise during emergencies).

During the second stage, measures will be practiced for controlling the situation in an emergency.

The State Light Craft Inspectorate's forces and the Emergencies Ministry's aircraft will take part in the exercises.

A MI-26 helicopter and a Be-200 amphibian plane will be used for the first time in this training exercise. Also, search and rescue services and units of the Far Eastern military district, the Eastern district of the Interior Ministry troops and the Center of Disaster Medicine will be involved in the exercise.

According to the first deputy chief of the Far Eastern Regional Emergencies Center, Alexander Glazunov, about a thousand people will take part in the exercise.
