PUTIN INSTRUCTS RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY TO SIGN ADDITIONAL PROTOCOL WITH FRG

MOSCOW, August 26 (RIA Novosti) - Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian Foreign Ministry with signing an additional protocol to the agreement between Russia and the FRG on the transit of military property and personnel via the territory of the Russian Federation in connection with the participation of the German Armed Forces in the efforts on stabilization and restoration of Afghanistan.

In the relevant provision's text published on Thursday on the Kremlin's official web site, the Russian President accepted the proposal of the Russian government on the signing of a relevant protocol and instructed the Russian government to work out the mechanism of realizing this document.

The intergovernmental Russian-German agreement on the transit, reports the Russian government's press service, has been approved by the Cabinet. A relevant resolution was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov.

The agreement was signed on October 9, 2003, in connection with the participation of the FRG Armed Forces in the efforts on the stabilization and restoration of Afghanistan, notes the press release.
