RUSSIAN AIR CRASHES: EACH BEREAVED HOUSEHOLD FOR R100,000

MOSCOW, August 30 (RIA Novosti) - Relations of the August 24 air crash victims, Russian nationals and aliens alike, are entitled to extraordinary grants of 100,000 roubles a household, slightly below US$3,400, a federal government functionary said to Novosti. The damages will amount to a lump nine million roubles, he added. The federal Finance Ministry will remove the sum from the government reserve fund.

Tomorrow, the Cabinet will discuss assistance to the bereaved, Igor Levitin, Transport Minister, announced to the media earlier on the day. The families are also entitled to insurance payments, grants from the involved airlines, and aid from local administrations. Thus, Siberia Airlines will pay 50,000 roubles per victim, the Volgograd regional administration another 50,000, and Volgograd and Moscow municipal administrations 100,000 each, said Mr. Levitin.

The TU 134 jet crash killed 44, and the TU 154, the same day, 46.
