MOSCOW, August 31 (RIA Novosti) - Two cars blasted close to a metro station in Moscow tonight to kill six and injure twenty.
The tragedy came 15 metres off the Rizhskaya subway station exit, 20.15, Moscow time, as two cars blew up-a Lada and an Audi. Twelve of the injured people are at death's door. There are several children with burns and splinter wounds among the survivors, reports a police officer.
Station windows are shattered, as are several windows of the Krestovsky department store nearby, in a congested neighbourhood on one of the city's principal thoroughfares.
Police has cordoned off the site, where rescuers, detectives, first-aid paramedics and FSB explosive device experts are busy. Mayor Yuri Luzhkov urgently arrived to join them.
The FSB-Federal Security Service-ascribes the blast to a suicide girl terrorist.
