MINSK, September 2 (RIA Novosti) - The implementation of the Belarussian-Russian Program, Space of the Union State, will start in October, this year, a spokesman for the Unified Institute of Information Science Problems of the Belarussian National Academy of Sciences told RIA Novosti.

The Belarussian National Academy of Sciences and the Russian Aviation and Space Agency have worked out a new large-scale project.

It is meant for four years and is the continuation of Belarussian-Russian cooperation in the sphere of space technologies.

The aim of the project is to create the elements of a common system to ensure space information for the users in the Union State of Russia and Belarus and the ground section of the navigation and information system.

For this purpose, the scientists are working out over 20 samples of space equipment. Two interstate systems of distant probing of the Earth will be put into operation, and the ground systems of receiving information will be modernized.

In particular, the station for receiving space information from the Meteor-3M satellite will be modernized. This will make it possible to receive space information also from other satellites, including the Belarussian one whose launching is scheduled for 2006.

Apart from that, the scientists will continue to work in the sphere of high-tech devices for measuring trajectories, used in Russian space ports, which, according to experts, could be sold to the third countries in the future.

Work will also be continued in making instruments for measuring the ozone layer.

This union program, as the Belarussian Academy of Sciences expects, will make it possible to raise the competitiveness of space facilities and to increase the export of science-intense products by both countries and hard currency investments.

Before the beginning of October, the assignments of the program will have to be completed. This program will be the continuation of the previous one - Space: Belarus - Russia, the spokesman for the Belarussian National Academy of Sciences pointed out.
