3 BESLAN CHILDREN OPERATED ON IN ROSTOV-ON-DON

MOSCOW, September 5 (RIA Novosti) - Three out of 11 gravely wounded children brought last night from Beslan were operated on in Rostov-on-Don's children's regional clinical hospital on Sunday, said hospital head doctor Vladimir Pavlenko.

He specified that operations were performed on children with splinter wounds of the head, who are in critical condition.

By the latest data, a Russian Emergencies Ministry aircraft with 17 wounded children has left North Ossetia for Moscow.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry information department told RIA Novosti that the parents and doctors of the Zashchita All-Russian Center of Catastrophe Medicine are accompanying the children.

An aircraft from Italy with humanitarian cargo for those wounded in the terrorist act has arrived at Beslan airport in North Ossetia.

"The plane has delivered medical equipment and medicine, including preparations against burns," said the department.
