MOSCOW, September 8 (RIA Novosti) - Last night, Channel One, a Russian television channel, broadcasted live coverage of the World Cup of Hockey quarterfinal game between the Russian and U.S. national teams, the sports editorial department of the channel said.
Initially, the game was not going to be shown on television.
Russia and the U.S. already met in the group stage of the tournament and the Russian team won, 3-1.
Channel One also plans to broadcast at least one semifinal game and the final on the night of September 14.
Channel One is now in talks to acquire the broadcast rights for the second semifinal game.
NTV+ satellite television channel is also covering the World Cup games.
