The rally, which kicked off in Berlin several days ago, has passed by Warsaw, Riga, Tallinn and St. Petersburg. The return route will run through Bryansk, Kyiv, Lviv, Krakow, Bratislava and Prague.
Reiner Beekes, Director General of the Volkswagen Group Finance company, said in a RIA interview that there were plans to make the rally an ongoing event. "We believe such events promote integration of nations, providing insights into their history and culture," he said.
The Berlin-Moscow-Berlin rally, being held for a second time this year, aims at uniting vintage-car buffs from different countries across the world.
The Tsar Rally team is comprised of vintage-car collectors, i.e. doctors, engineers and businessmen, from Germany, the United States, Holland, Belgium, and other countries. The cars taking part in the event include Bentley limousines dating from the early 20th century, Rolls Royces, Jaguars, Mercedes-Benzes, BMWs, and Citroens.
Last year's rally involved sixteen crews from six countries. This time around, eighteen cars from nine countries are taking part.
