The conferees will discuss the contribution of youth contacts to peace and confidence building between townspeople. They will specify the role of megalopolises in settling current international problems, and in cultural and economic partnership. Addressing the audience will be the mayors of many cities, in particular, Moscow, Paris, London, Kiev, Berlin, Riga, Pyongyang, St. Petersburg, Nicosia, Minsk, Sarajevo and Teheran.
A reception in the visitors' honour will be held tomorrow night. The mayors of Moscow, Paris, London and Berlin-Europe's largest cities-will meet, Thursday, and make press statements. An official conference opening will follow.
Finishing the forum will be a gala to pass conference chairmanship to the mayor of Istanbul for the next two years.
Moscow has prepared an extensive professional and cultural programme for the visiting mayors. They will not only debate burning political issues but go to excursions and a boat trip along the Moskva River, and have a delightful evening at the Bolshoi Theatre.
Police will thoroughly check and guard all hotels where the conferees are putting up, and all conference and reception venues, to say nothing of cars and buses that will carry the mayors and persons accompanying them. All people in the services will be accredited, with a special pass for each.
