MOSCOW, September 15 (RIA Novosti) - The U.S. authorities decision on freezing the accounts of the Saudi charity organization is an important step in the context of combating the international terrorism, stated Alexander Yakovenko, official spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, on Wednesday addressing the U.S. authorities decision to freeze the accounts of the Saudi charity organization Al-Aramein Islamic Foundation.
"We are pleased to point out the information on the U.S. authorities' decision to enter the Saudi charity organization Al-Aramein Islamic Foundation into the applicable sanction lists and completely freeze its assets in the USA", reads the document received by RIA Novosti from the Russian Foreign Ministry's Information and Press Department.
"Such decision was adopted on the basis of investigation results revealing close links of this foundation with Al-Qaeda, which used it for funding Chechen terrorists", Mr. Yakovenko pointed out.
