The South Korean President is arriving in Moscow today at an invitation of the Russian head of state on an official visit.
"Russia highly appreciates the support the leadership and the people of South Korea express toward our country at this crucial point," the source said.
The two leaders will discuss the state of and prospects for bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Long-term cooperation on such hot topics as energy and fuel, transport, aerospace, development of natural resources, R&D, information technology, telecoms, fishing, and regional cooperation will be on the table.
Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization and consistent integration into the international economic system will also be touched upon, as well as the state of and prospects for military-technical cooperation, including its hi-tech issues. Upgrade of the legal base for military-technical cooperation will probably be agreed upon.
The sides will focus on a need for stronger cooperation in large bilateral and international economic projects. One of these will be a link between the Trans-Korean and Trans-Siberian railways, the source said.
Stronger UN hand in international issues, WMD nonproliferation, the situation on the Korean Peninsula, IAEA guarantees, nuclear safety, export control efficiency, and broader peaceful nuclear energy international cooperation will also be on the agenda.
Russia and South Korea are preparing agreements on peaceful research and use of the outer space, on visa-free entry with a diplomatic passport, and on several large investment petrochemical and refining projects.
