RUSSIA URGES COMPLIANCE WITH IAEA RESOLUTION ON IRAN

MOSCOW, September 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is hopeful requirements stipulated in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolution on Iran will be implemented in full. The Russian foreign ministry said in a statement that Russia believed a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, due in November, would spare no effort to settle the existing problems and ensure that resolution-stipulated requirements should be fulfilled in full.

"We hope all the parties will make appropriate efforts to finally settle the remaining issues and put the Agency's monitoring activities in Iran on usual, technological track," reads the statement.

The ministry recalled that the Board of Governors passed a resolution, in Vienna on September 18, on applying the agreement on guarantees to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty in Iran.

"The resolution is a compromise that reflects the prevailing opinion among the IAEA member countries that all issues related to Iran's activities in the nuclear sphere should be settled as soon as possible. The resolution sets guidelines for settling the remaining issues in the best possible way, through cooperation. It calls on Tehran, for example, to reinstate a moratorium on all enrichment activities. Russia supports this appeal," said the foreign ministry.
