"The Northern Fleet squadron that will set out on a long cruise comprises the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, the Pyotr Veliky nuclear powered missile carrying cruiser, the Marshal Ustinov missile carrying cruiser, the Admiral Levchenko and the Severomorsk large antisubmarine ships and the Admiral Ushakov destroyer, as well as support vessels," the staff officers said.
During the cruise, the Northern Fleet ships will practice combat training in accordance with the Russian Navy's plans. Also, the Admiral Levchenko and the Severomorsk will participate in the Northern Eagle 2004 joint Russian-US exercise which will be held in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean from late September to early October, the officers said.
They noted that on Monday and Tuesday, commander-in-chief of the Navy of the Russian Federation Admiral of the Fleet Vladimir Kuroyedov, checked the preparedness of the Northern Fleet ships for their cruise to the Atlantic Ocean.
