General representative of the Russian center of science and culture in Egypt, director of the Russian cultural center in Cairo Oleg Fomin told RIA Novosti that the meeting will be attended by graduates of Russian (Soviet) higher educational establishments from 12 Arab states and a representative delegation from Russia.
Mr. Fomin stressed that for the first time in many years the meeting will be attended by graduates from Iraq.
The aim of the conference is activation of the role of graduates in the development of overall relations of the Arab world with Russia and the CIS countries.
The conference will take place under the patronage of Egyptian Higher Education Minister Amre Salama, who will be present at the opening.
On September 29 an exhibition dedicated to higher education in Russia will open in Cairo.
Mr. Fomin stressed that associations of Russian higher educational establishments' graduates operate in many Arab countries; two years ago, an Arab national association of Russian and CIS higher school graduates was established in Tunisia.
Overall, in his words, over 100,000 Arabs received a higher civil education in Russia for half a century.
