RUSSIAN EXHIBITION OPENS IN KAZAKHSTAN

ASTANA, September 27 (RIA Novosti) - An ethnic Russian exhibition has opened in Astana, Kazakhstan's capital.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov has sent greetings to its organisers and participants. Viktor Khristenko, Russian Energy and Industry Minister, read out the greetings at the opening ceremony.

"Russia and Kazakhstan have always been linked by good-neighbourly relations that have briskly developed in recent years as part of economic integration," reads the Russian premier's message. "Today the two countries are enjoying every condition for effective business cooperation," Mr Fradkov said in the message.

The premier was positive the exhibition that was taking place as part of Year of Russia in Kazakhstan would become another important event in relations between the two countries, consolidate links between the regions and help intensify bilateral contacts in different spheres of economics.

The exhibit, arranged by Russia's Economic Development and Trade Ministry, is featuring over 200 enterprises from 25 Russian regions. The event is designed to promote products made and services provided by Russian enterprises on the Kazakh market, and the development of trade and other economic contacts, and investment cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan.

The exhibition will be held into September 30.
