MOSCOW, September 28. (RIA Novosti) - On Tuesday President of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski will arrive in Russia with a working visit.

He will meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, RIA Novosti learned in the Kremlin.

The talks will focus on topical international problems, ways to further promote bilateral relations and eliminate common historic problems, the source pointed out.

The parties will also discuss interaction in the anti-terrorist sphere, he said. "At a time when Russia enjoyed global support due to the Beslan tragedy, the broad anti-Russian campaign in the Polish mass media, supported by a number of officials, came as a serious discordance," the source said.

International problems will also be discussed in the anti-terrorist context, he added.

Moscow favors "further increase of mutual trade turnover, which by the end of the year is expected to hit the all-time high in Russian-Polish relations and amount to some $7 billion. Priority areas for cooperation include the fuel and energy sphere, industrial interaction and investment. Special attention is paid to Poland's participation in creating favorable conditions for activities in the Kaliningrad region [Russia's exclave in the Baltic]," the agency's interlocutor explained.

The centerpiece of the talks will be the two countries' interaction after Poland's accession to the European Union.

Earlier Vladimir Putin pointed out that the main goal of Moscow and Warsaw should be to preserve their close relations after Poland's accession to the European Union.

"It would be a mistake if we lost what we had. We must do our best to preserve our interaction after Poland's accession to the EU," he said at a meeting with Kwasniewski in June 2004 in Caen.

Yet another important topic on the Russian-Polish agenda is development of bilateral military and technical cooperation, including projects of modernizing planes, helicopters and armored vehicles of the Polish Armed Forces that were produced in Russia.

The parties see good prospects for joint transport projects, including the use of the Trans-Siberian railway for container shipments and modernization of the Moscow-Warsaw railway.

In the last four years the two leaders have met six times.
