MOSCOW, September 28 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Transport Ministry will look into the feasibility of building a new terminal, Sheremetyevo-3, Transport Minister Igor Levitin told a press conference on Tuesday.

In addition to the updating design of the Sheremetyevo-2 terminal, the Aeroflot company has presented its design of building Sheremetyevo-3, Mr. Levitin said.

"Since the state has 100 percent of Sheremetyevo-2 and 51 percent of Aeroflot, it is a goal of state importance and we [the government] have to weigh up our monetary capability," Mr. Levitin said, making it clear that the government has the final say in the "build or not to build" problem.

Now, the main terminal Sheremetyevo-2 lacks floor space and its updating is a settled question, he said.

Mr. Levitin recalled that the project was submitted for discussion by the Sheremetyevo-2 Board of Directors but could not suit the Transport Ministry. After the 20th of October the board will have another consideration.

As regards Sheremetyvo-3, if put into operation, the present two runways will not be enough for all the passenger terminals, Mr. Levitin noted. He stressed that the Sheremetyevo-2 and Sheremetyevo-3 designs should be seen in entirety with account for the development plan of the Moscow airport complex.
