MOSCOW, September 29 (RIA Novosti)-The Central Election Commission has proposed introducing electronic voter codes in the new Russian internal passports, head of the commission, Alexander Veshnyakov, said on Tuesday.

According to him, if the electronic voter codes are included in internal passports, "no one will be able to use another individual's passport at a polling station.

"In this case, some shortcomings of accounting for voters, such as what happened at the recent elections in Chechnya when a journalist voted four times, will be altogether eliminated."

Mr. Veshnyakov said that his department was ready to propose introducing electronic voter codes to the working group that is, on the president's instruction, working on the legal and financial aspects of introducing new internal passports.

President Vladimir Putin signed an order on forming an interdepartmental working group to prepare the introduction of new passport and visa documents in Russia. The new passport will contain a hologram, a digital photograph and biometric data.
