The organ was made in Bonn by the consortium of the leading German organ firms and work began to assemble the organ in Svetlanov Hall this July. The organ will be the largest in Russia in terms of its register and size. The organ is 14 meters tall, 10 meters wide and 3.5 meters deep. It weighs 30 metric tons.
According to Mr. Popov, the first international organ festival will held in the House of Music next March. "The audience will have the chance to listen to the best European organ players who have never performed in Moscow before," he said.
Mr. Popov also said that a Brahms festival would be held in the House of Music in January and February. The Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Spivakov, the Big Symphony Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Fedoseyev and also musicians and vocalists from abroad will perform at the festival.
He said that the house's repertoire included three jazz programs, one of which is a children's program.
